FLAGSTAFF — On Oct. 18, Flagstaff AZ area residents will come together with millions of Americans across the country in a nationwide day of peaceful protest at the second No Kings Day of Action. There are currently more than 2500 events nationwide. We expect 4,000 people at the Flagstaff protest. WHEN: October 18, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM WHERE: Flagstaff City Hall, 121 W. FLAGSTAFF — Despite the long holiday weekend, a crowd estimated at more than 400 turned out for the “Labor Day Protest-Workers Over Billionaires!” in front of the Flagstaff City Hall. Organized locally by Indivisible Northern AZ, the event was part of a nationwide protest against “the billionaire agenda is dismantling our government: overseeing mass firings, gutting worker protections and social services, and transferring wealth to the 1% while funding a private army of ICE agents,” the organization stated in a media release. A sizable number of protesters carried signs calling for better wages for works, tax the 1 percent and support union workers during the afternoon rally.

FLAGSTAFF — Even though it was on short notice, a crowd of 300 to 400 or so protesters gathered at the Flagstaff City Hall on Aug. 16, 2025 as part of the “Rapid Response: Fight the Trump Takeover” to protest the potential moves by the Trump Administration and its allies in Texas change the voting map to keep Republican in power in Congress. The protest in Flagstaff included members of Indivisible Northern AZ and other organizations. “Trump told Texas Republicans to gerrymander the state to add congressional seats to the map. It’s a power grab pure and simple,” Indivisible Northern AZofficials stated before the event. “Texas is a test case and just the beginning. Trump and his enablers are deliberately working to steal the 2026 election (and beyond) by rigging the electoral maps in their favor well into the future.

From presenters urging everyone to work together during this uncertain political time, to lessons on how to focus on your protest message, be it in interviews with media or even your own protest sign, more than 140 people crowded together at Flagstaff's Federated Church for a "Teach In" on Thursday, July 17 as part of the "Good Trouble Lives On" National Day of Action. The day, which honors the passing five years ago of Congressman John Lewis, featured protests and other forms of action in more than 1,600 locations nationwide. The local program was organized by the Coconino Democrats, Indivisible Northern Arizona and Lived Black Experience. In Flagstaff, the event featured opening remarks by via Zoom by Dr. Justin R. Mallett, vice president of Inclusive Excellence at Northern Arizona University. "We have to start sharing our stories and sharing the work we are doing collectively," he said. "..We have to let people know that these events are for everybody...They are there for all of us."

Whether it was saving the Affordable Care Act or kicking Trump out of office in 2020, we’ve proven that organizing on a local level to drive progress works -- and that is still true.  But the pressing threat of authoritarianism means that we have to include new strategies to protect the future of our democracy and our people. And that is why we are launching One Million Rising: a campaign to train one million people in the art of strategic non-cooperation to fight authoritarianism.

But now, too many of them face the threat of deportation, despite the sacrifices they made to keep America going. President Trump has said he wants to protect immigrants working in essential sectors. We must ensure those words become action. More than 160,000 people have already signed the national petition. Let’s raise our voices and demand dignity, protection, and permanence for essential workers.
