Project Salt Box, a Maryland website initially launched to track down the use of government contracts to purchase or lease immigration detention centers in the state, is part of a nationwide effort to expose Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) expansion nationwide, including the recent purchase of a warehouse in Surprise, AZ. The website features a nationwide map of ICE Warehouse purchases. Opponents are fighting back by reviewing and reporting on government warehouse purchasing contracts, protesting developers/building owners renting or selling their facilities, protesting at city and county meetings to pressure officials to cancel ICE purchases. A spending boycott of big tech and other corporate supporters of the Trump administration is continuing nationwide. "Resist and Unsubscribe" is the brainchild of New York University marketing professor Scott Galloway. The 10 companies to boycott during February include: - Apple, Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Netflix, OpenAI, Paramount+, Uber and X.

Flagstaff joins nationwide anti-ICE protest event on Jan. 31

FLAGSTAFF — Protesters marched down Humphrey Street (video) to the Flagstaff City Hall on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026 to celebrate the ongoing removal of the City's Flock surveillance cameras and to protest against ICE enforcement actions in Minneapolis, Minn. and other cities across the nation. Nearly 200 protesters ended up waving signs, (video) shouting slogans and cheering at honking motorists (video) as part of the event. Protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) intensified during the past few weeks following the shooting deaths of ICE watchers Renee Nicole Good on Jan. 7 and Alex Pretti on Jan. 24. The protest and related actions also added a few extra elements as dozens of local bicycle riders (video) rode through downtown Flagstaff (video) as part of the nationwide "Pedal for Pretti" memorial rides. Rides were held on Jan. 31 in Iowa City,  Milwaukee,  Portland, Ore., San Francisco and elsewhere.

We are a group of volunteers organized through Keep Flagstaff Together, a project of Catch Fire Movement, to respond in real time when ICE is active here in Flagstaff.  Our purpose is to observe and record ICE activity and support our neighbors.
