With bi-weekly highlights, our goal is to provide consistent communication, share valuable resources, and highlight meaningful opportunities that may benefit Indigenous communities, including educators, students, and parents. Indigenous Youth Opportunities
Scholarship deadline has been extended!The application deadline has been extended to February 28,2025 for the Arizona Indian Education Association scholarship! Please share application with eligible students. Open to high school students, 2 year and 4 year college students, and graduate students.Scholarship Application
7th Gen Summer Program accepting applications!Encourage a motivated college bound high school Native senior (Class of 2025) to apply for a summer semester at Crazy Horse Memorial. Program runs from June 7 to August 2, 2025. A full residential program, students receive 12 college credits and participate in a paid internship. Fully funded by the Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation. Camp O’Connor USA, free program! In-person summer program from June 9 to June 13, 2025 with ASU College of Law, for current 7th and 8th grade students! Free program provides civics education, leadership development, and encourages attendees to become role models and leaders in their schools and communities. Young Scholars Program for 7th Graders A 5 year, pre-college scholarship program for high achieving 7th grade students with financial need. Program is designed to support students from 8th grade to senior year of high school (as long as they meet yearly renewal process)! Application deadline is April 30, 2025. Upcoming College Fairs: Tucson and PhoenixFree and open to the public. Tucson: Salpointe Catholic High School on March 1, 2025 from 9AM to 11:30AM. Phoenix East: Highland High School on March 2, 2025 from 12PM to 2PM. Phoenix West: ASU West Campus on March 2, 2025 from 4PM to 5:30PM. Students can register ahead of time on the event website, and receive list of colleges attending. Event Information
Native American Science & Engineering Program still accepting applications! Priority deadline is March 14, 2025. Program dates are June 8-14, 2025 in Tucson, AZ. Additionally, students receive year long support. Open to Native American rising high school juniors and seniors. Free program, room and board are provided during the summer component. Community Opportunities
Fully-funded mental telehealth program available in rural Arizona communities! Partnership between ADE and mental health provider, Cartwheel, makes therapy and psychiatry available via telehealth with no waitlist and at no cost to schools. Services available to all school districts and charter schools in Arizona’s 13 rural counties. Tribal Leadership Academy for tribal leaders!Suited for newly elected or appointed tribal government leaders, including those who direct major tribal offices or divisions (including tribal education departments). Attendees will engage and experience faculty presenters on governance matters of vital importance to tribal nations. From July 28 to August 1, 2025 at Dartmouth College campus in Hanover, NH. Educator Opportunities
AZ Reads now accepting applications! Apply today!Up to $2,500 available for programs such as reading and discussion programs, creative writing, cultural learning and sharing, and more. Proposals welcome from teachers in all disciplines, school librarians, and administrators part of institutions, community libraries, and nonprofits serving K-12 youth. Proposal submission deadline is March 17, 2025. The funding period is June 1, 2025 to June 1, 2026. Water Educators Fellowship open! ASU and the Central Arizona Project invite water education leaders and PreK-12 teachers into a 12 month fellowship. Will include curriculum related to Central AZ Water Conservation District, Colorado River System, and operations and maintenance of the Central AZ Project. Participants receive a $2,000 stipend and 30 professional development hours. Applications are due April 15, 2025. Registration now OPEN for June conference! Attend the 2025 Teachers Insititute and Leading Change Conference, by ADE Academic Standards Department. June 3-5, 2025 in Glendale, AZ. Additionally, they are accepting session proposals until February 28, 2025. April is Math Awareness Month! Plan to join the AZ Zip Code ChallengeThe challenge runs April 1 to April 30. The zip code that has solved the most math problems at firstinmath.com wins! Teaming Up For Education grants now open.The AZ Diamondbacks and University of Phoenix are teaming up to support teachers! Grants up to $10,000 are available to transform educational outcomes at your school. Priority given to K-12 schools in underserved communities and unique projects that do not currently have funding. APS Foundation’s Arizona STEM Acceleration Project Fellowship accepting applications. K-12 STEM teachers encouraged to apply for a 6 month fellowship (March to September 2025). Fellows receive stipend when attending professional development, share lesson plans, and implement STEM projects at school.
