Guest commentary — Indivisible updates + actions: the Black Friday blackout (Nov. 27 through Dec. 1), a message to Trump’s corporate collaborators, more…

The short version is this: Successful anti-authoritarian movements use their economic power to stop the slide into fascism. That’s why Indivisible is enthusiastically joining We Ain’t Buying It: a corporate pressure campaign targeting Home Depot, Target, and Amazon this Black Friday weekend. The longer version is this: Show me what autocracy looks like! What we’re experiencing in America now is strikingly similar to what other democracies that have collapsed into authoritarianism have experienced.

Kings Day protest in June, northern Arizona residents and visitors loudly shared their emotions about the state of the nation’s Democracy during the “No Kings Day of Action” rally on Oct. 18 in front of Flagstaff City Hall. Organized locally by Indivisible Northern Arizona and supported by a variety of local groups, opponents of the Trump administration crowded the sidewalks from Wheeler Park and Humphreys Street along Route 66 around the curve to Milton Road, filling the grassy area up to the Flagstaff City Hall sign. Unlike previous rallies, a sizable crowd of protesters also held up their signs on the opposite side of Humphreys and on Route 66. While detractors said the anti-Trump rallies were made up of aging hippies, radical leftest and those who hate America, it appeared protesters came from all walks of life, from the very young to parents and seniors, many waving American flags.

Last minute ‘Rapid Response: Fight the Trump Takeover’ event brings 300 to 400 protesters to Flagstaff City Hall

FLAGSTAFF — Even though it was on short notice, a crowd of 300 to 400 or so protesters gathered at the Flagstaff City Hall on Aug. 16, 2025 as part of the “Rapid Response: Fight the Trump Takeover” to protest the potential moves by the Trump Administration and its allies in Texas change the voting map to keep Republican in power in Congress. The protest in Flagstaff included members of Indivisible Northern AZ and other organizations. “Trump told Texas Republicans to gerrymander the state to add congressional seats to the map. Flagstaff locals and visitors had a chance to get themselves into ‘Good Trouble’ as part of nationwide day of action on July 17

Indivisible — A new strategy to undercut Trump’s authoritarian takeover: One Million Rising

Indivisibles, The political landscape is changing, and we have to continue to change with it.  In the past, we’ve been able to lean directly on the power of the ballot box and the pressure we, as constituents, can bring to bear on our elected representatives. Whether it was saving the Affordable Care Act or kicking Trump out of office in 2020, we’ve proven that organizing on a local level to drive progress works -- and that is still true.  But the pressing threat of authoritarianism means that we have to include new strategies to protect the future of our democracy and our people. And that is why we are launching One Million Rising: a campaign to train one million people in the art of strategic non-cooperation to fight authoritarianism.
